Distribution of goods sent to Peru from the UK

The chain of distribution

Much of the goods sent from the UK is for the use of the children in our refuge. Apart from regular supplies of new clothes (to see a shipment being unloaded and sorted at Zapallal click here) we have sent a number of specific items for daily use in the refuge:

As well as for use in our refuge, material collected in the UK and shipped to Peru has been distributed to individuals in need in the local communities near the refuge (to view photos click here), in Lima or elsewhere in Peru.

Institutions and organisations collaborating in the distribution of charitable donations include:

  • Various District Municipal Councils
  • Rural and indigenous communities
  • Other refuges
  • The organisers of Mothers' Clubs
  • The organisers of Community Kitchens
  • Various Parishes in a number of communities
  • Other projects

Occasionally we hold a mega-tombola to defray some of the transport costs for the goods (to view photos click here).

Follow the links below to see more on the distribution of goods sent from the UK to destinations
outside the refuge:

Apurimac
Project Peru has recently taken a consignment of donated goods to the Department of Apurimac for distribution in this area of the sierra which suffers from severe poverty. Members of staff visited the village of Sancaya for the first time in 2007, meeting with the mayor, visiting infant, primary and secondary schools, distributing clothes, a wheel chair, zimmer frames etc sent from the UK.
