A number of awareness raising sessions have been
held in schools, tailored to specific needs. Among activities offered
in the past have been:
Peruvian dance, music and singing workshops, art
sessions making Peruvian designs, making Peruvian jewellery and
Peruvian food, a screen painting workshop to make a collage of the
Surrey Hills to send to the children's refuge in Peru, West Ridge Camelids'
exhibition, and their llamas and alpacas, an entertainment introduced
by Kausary
featuring some of their Latin American music, with some of the drama,
singing and dance prepared earlier in the day, as well as a supper
enjoying some of the Peruvian food made during the day.
Previous events have been held at Priorsfield
and Holy
Trinity schools.

Food
& Catering:
Can Project Peru cater for events or occasions that you are organising?
For example are you planning a 'celebration'?
We have previously done weddings,
anniversaries, birthdays, christenings, buffets, dinners, snacks,
picnics, cakes and parties. All arrangements on an individual basis,
strictly subject to our capacity.
We frequently cater with a Latin American theme,
especially at our own events, and have recently been able to offer
international cuisine from:
Europe
Latin America
Morocco
To enquire further please click here.
Regular activities also include Christmas cakes, Lenten
lunches, chutneys and jams, and home-made cakes. Christmas cakes and special celebration cakes are
specially iced and decorated by experts.

Craft stall:
Hand-crafted goods from the Peruvian
women's craft group Llamkaq Warmi,
Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir and some
crafts made by the children at our refuge (subject to availability). |
Donated goods:
We have a rolling programme of collecting,
packing and wrapping donated goods for shipment to Peru in response
to identified needs. Some donated items we sell in the UK at car boot
sales, in private homes and second hand shops. |
What people have done
for us: what you could do for us:
|
If you have a venue and an
audience (church, pub, hall, school, home, etc) we can arrange a joint
event with you. Or could you arrange one for us? If so please get in
touch.

(university) Leeds To Lima In 2007
Leeds Peru Project is a Leeds University organization that has
established a relationship with Project Peru during 2006-7; two groups,
each of approximately 8 students, stayed at the Project Peru children’s
home (in Zapallal) for approximately one month each during June/July
2007. They were involved both in activities with the children there,
and also in funding and working on a building project in Las Laderas,
one of the nearby communities from which several of our children come.
There they built a temporary refuge for chidren, single mothers and
older people. The area of Las Laderas de Chillon is one of extreme
poverty. The students raised funds in the U.K. both collectively and
individually, including through sponsored activities, events and via www.justgiving.com. Most also
walked the Inca Trail. |

We do what we can in our various events and
activities to promote the richness of Peru's culture. To read more
about this see the Arts & Culture section

At a number of our events we are supported
